Stand for Anthem & Flag...
nfl change of position
absolutely a 1st Amendment right, hands off
make it mandatory

You don't have a right to a job. If it's a condition of employment they'll have to deal with it.

my reference to 1st Amendment right, was sure they can say whatever they like. BUT as you sort of alluded to, is that your employer, customer, etc may not agree and you may have consequences.

And the NFL's stance can have consequences, too.
Let's say the entire cowboys team kneels. Jerry going to bench them all?

wouldn't put it past him
as for nfl consequences, apparently kneeling and disrespecting the flag and those who fought for it isn't working out to well either.
but I think we'll see a policy come out of the fall meeting that's a hefty monetary penalty. ($25k-$50k)
Money probably sent to some veteran charity.
and the player will probably be in default of a contract clause, voiding at owners discretion.
They are kneeling to disrespect the flag?
I thought they were kneeling for a different reason.
why do, so called, intelligent educated people believe that all you have to do is say you're not, and it's the rule?
"Actions" are many times the fact.
Kneeling not standing is disrespect for the flag and those who fought for it.
Best part, even you and them know it or else it wouldn't be the method of protest.
So you don't even know/in denial why they're kneeling.
There's most of the problem right there.
Interestingly, Kaep didn't start with kneeling. He sat down.
Only after meeting with a green beret ex-player did he start to kneel.
You should look into that...
Let me help you out:
let me help you.
Not standing for the national anthem & Flag is a form of disrespect to that flag and everyone who fought/died for it.
it's fùcking simple
The reason you use for it, does not change it.
You can disrespect the flag all you want, doesn't mean I have to respect you or your cause, no matter how valid it may be.
kind of like, 2 wrongs don't make a right.
So when they sing the anthem for a Packers game and you're watching it at home, do you stand?
AND Boyer is no more the official final authority on this subject than Donald Duck.
As far as the act of kneeling being disrespectful:
-I kneel to pray, am I disrespecting God?
-Athletes commonly kneel around an injured player. That's disrespectful now? Good to know.
Never said Boyer was a final authority on anything. Just pointing out your ignorance about a big part of the story's development.
Fun story: live a few miles from brother in law, Navy vet. We commiserate watching the vikes lose. He's very vocal about the anthem issue and how it's disrespectful to do anything but stand during the anthem.
Haven't seen him stand once for the anthem at home yet.
Sometimes he's off taking a leak.
Others sitting on his ass.
Another he just looked at me funny when I stood for it, just to see what he'd do. (He didn't)
Has he earned that right? Sure.
But the hypocrisy is deafening.
It's not like Kaep disrespected vets by saying he only liked ones that weren't captured.
Imagine if he had... He could be president.
And since kneeling is disrespectful now, how should I pray?
I can't believe I've been disrespecting God this entire time.
skal, I'm hoping you're just playing an ignorant saterical ass.
you couldn't possibly be this uninformed or ignorant on the proper honors to the flag.
As for your question on God, wouldn't that depend on
1: which God you pray to?
2: the requirement, if any, your God requires?
3: do you believe in your God?
He ranted for weeks about how horrible, disrespectful, and unpatriotic the players were being for not standing for the anthem.
I merely pointed out that he too had not stood for the anthem for any of the wild, twins, or
Vikings games we'd watched together the last few weeks.
We have kneeling pads attached to our pews. In light of this new information that kneeling is disrespectful, I have contacted my pastor about getting those things ripped out.
Thank you for saving me from hell.
As far as proper respect to the flag goes, there's lots of things people do on a daily basis that disrespects the flag. Including those giant horizontal flags rolled out at sporting events.
