If you're going to buy a purse, be sure to buy one made lovingly by a Chinese prisoner : http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/05/01/arizona-woman-discovers-note-from-chinese-prisoner-in-purse-bought-at-walmart.html

And "manufactured in the U.S." doesn't necessarily mean by free will either. Prisoners manufacture a lot of crap and for-profit prisons are legal in this country. I wonder how treatment of prisoners compares!

Anyway I'd rather work 14 hours than have the same 14 hours in solitary confinement - and apparently the U.S. is tops in use of solitary confinement for menial infractions, for long periods, etc. That's worse than this poor person's story imo.

I'm pretty sure the note was a plant by a creative activist. What crap do prisoners manufacture here? I can say with near certainty that prisoners are treated better here.

Do you honestly believe we get accurate data on solitary confinement from 90% of countries with prison populations including China?

Maybe we can both admit that in this case neither one of us has access to much in the way of actual facts on this topic...particularly when it comes to prisons in other countries!!

I did feel that article had some credence, but only insofar as anyone could accurately report such a thing. No actual statistics were quoted.

Dr. Evil @ 27 days ago

Lakeland, MN 55043, USA

C767f03aeb282b9660d8157840047228

the statistics offered were of a broader general basis regarding imprisonment terms and general conditions. The issue with solitary was more of an observation that we do that to an extent not generally seen elsewhere.

Doc, don't intend to be a meat head about this. I would say prison conditions / treatment here is middle of the road when compared to other democratic countries.

Quite a few in the first 100 countries that are worse off than us. Overcrowding is probably the best indicator of conditions. Show me something that supports your position... Whatever that is

Well the opposite of solitary confinement is overcrowding, so to speak, so a lack of overcrowding is not necessary an indicator either...could indicate a lot of alternative punishments too like caning or death.

I reiterate, our prison system is far from a model to be followed. It is often cruel and ruinous to the incarcerated. Many systems are better, but just as many are worse

Honestly I think for-profit prisons should be outlawed. there should be no incentive to make or keep prisoners to enable a profitable workforce...that situation is ripe for kickback abuse with human cost.

"Overcrowding says nothing about treatment" is not false. Overcrowding is about the prison environment. How the system treats the prisoner is different than the prison environment they are housed in.

b, women's fashion is like that anyway, particularly upscale bags. You pay literally thousands of dollars to get the hot fashion and name. The quality of the bag is really only so good, right? It's still stitched leather, not crusted with jewels.
