"we have to recognize that we can no longer allow Assange and his colleagues the latitude to use free speech values against us. To give them the space to crush us with misappropriated secrets is a perversion of what our great Constitution stands for"

I get the distinct impression that the Intel community has The People's back. Rose colored glasses, perhaps, but certainly some leaks won't be plugged.

Pompeo, Sessions etc. aside, those not drinking the Kool-Aid seem to be pretty leaky these days.

I'm sorry, but the perversion is that those secrets exist at all for Wikileaks to leak. if the government lived within its intended boundaries, there would be nothing for them to be leaking.

There'll always be secrets to leak even if the government were living within intended boundaries.

Yeah evil, the NSA didn't notify anyone that they lost control of their secret hacking tools (shadowbrokers hack) and left everyone running a Windows box completely exposed They seem to care more about CYA.

Hey Arlington! What do you think about the new secrecy on visitors to the white house? Triggered by that dumb cúnt Nunes, no doubt.

Skål, of course they're not forthcoming when they fúck up. Very few institutional instances of doing the right thing when they fúck up.

I seem to recall you, h2o, complaining bitterly about the lack of transparency in the Obama administration. You might to rethink your lame "yeah but what about" arguments here.

I bitched? don't think so,,,, Obama was open about all his racist visitors and thoughts. . you might want to check your meds, evil .

with that cleared up, you do know Obama heavily redacted his logs, and only after a court order? .

Not a fan doc. There is obviously no Constitutional requirement there, but transparency is a good thing. For the few meetings that ready need to be secret, I'm sure there were already ways around that.

Valid point btw Drew. I wouldn't support every type of leak, but I'm a fan of anything that reveals government wrongdoing.

Only redacted after a court order? That's not an attempt to hide anything!

If the court order was instead to make the logs public, then how can the current administration now decide to make them private?

see you read up on it, didn't you. . the court order was to release but with security issues exempt. . your other question, I don't know except security reasons, but he's vindictive enough to hand over total redacts. . just sayin

Actually later in 2013 the court ruled that the logs could be kept secret. Obama chose to continue to publish it as it had been. The later court decision is the basis for Trump's new policy of not publishing anything.
