Yeah, H2O... There weren't any regulations in ACA against narrow networks. Big oversight, but he had no control over who insurers kept in-network.

But hey, that's how insurers try to keep costs down. He shouldn't have made that promise about something he had no control over. That said, the ACA fearmongering at that time wasn't remotely truthful.

There will always be individuals that have major medical issues (self imposed or not) with no way to pay for medical care It is not a goal to make basic medical care a obstacle for them to receive.

AMi @ 9 months ago

Villa Park, IL, USA

0eda15e8a4a685a0722949782c90e863

within the ED framework it is a matter of predictive human behavior.... the ED is a bastion for persons who feel compelled to make that their first and sometimes only medical care option

self imposed behavior fever? ED late night? ED bad headache? ED minor cut? ED anxiety attack? ED it's an expensive catch all

AMi @ 9 months ago

Villa Park, IL, USA

B35527b232c45def78db4f6949419182

Are other, cheaper options available to those people? Can they reliably differentiate crushing chest pain from anxiety versus a heart attack?

Tjaden Froyda @ 9 months ago

undefined

B35527b232c45def78db4f6949419182

Access to cheaper, nonED sources of care, especially during off hours, is a huge problem. Especially when you can't get a primary doc or get in there timely. Coverage without access.
